Tips from Aunt

Salam & Hi!

So here is the list of tips she gave me:

STUDIES

1. Read before entering lectures
2. No point leaving the lecture if you did not understand what the lecturer has said
3. Read proper text (She suggested, wake up for Tahajud and read the toughest subject.. It will be hard at the beginning.. Will feel soo sleepy, but keep on doin it till it eventually becomes a habit.. The best time to read is in the morning... Pure Peaceful & Barakah)
4. Make short notes for future revision ( Especially in Medicine, as it requires memorization! Lottsss of it!)
5. Teach others / Study in a group
6. Seek the lecturers when feeling uncertain upon...anything! (Free Teacher's Blessing)
7. Make doa!

* AFTER studying, AFTER developing a good relationship with Allah, AFTER putting lotsssaaa effort!

Make doa to Allah for guidance,

"Oh Allah, show me what will be asked in the exam......
i) by moving my instinct
ii) from a discussion among study group mates
iii) from a question asked by a friend
iv) hints by the lecturers
Amiin."

8. Only study from the short notes the night before exam
9. Make plans for the whole semester, few days before starting the new semester
10. Ask parents to make doa before each paper

MAINTAIN A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH ALLAH

1. Wake up for Tahajud (talk to Allah... Tell everything that is bothering the mind and soul)
2. Read the Quran (even half a page per day!)
3. Make "serious" doa after each prayer (spend a lil bit of time, ask from Allah)

Truly from my beloved aunt~

I know some people will think these tips are somewhat, common... But as for me, i dont find they are that common after finding the first two papers was soo difficult. And i was about to lose hope! Thats when i realised i was too far from Allah.
And the most eye opening situation was when i did not realised that the last question on Cardiac paper was the one that i had been memorizing the answer for ages.., until the last 10 mins before times up! The feeling was too horrible.

p/s: My aunt was the Best Student back in her uni, i dunno where.. for sure in the States. She was nominated by TWO of her lecturers for that award. I got to know about this from my mom. =)

Non Strategized Exam Prep

Salam & Hi!

Declaration : Finished First Year Med. Alhamdulillah...!

Exam week was tough tho. At least for me, i dunno how others think. Sadly because, lacking of strategy. You see, medicine is just crazy. I knew exam was coming. I started studying even a month before. But i studied WITHOUT strategy. The only thing i wanted was to cramp everything in, as much as possible!

A week before the exams starts, my self-confidence rose like a space rocket! I've covered most of everything already. *thats the disgusted proud part of me* And after the first paper, thats the thing that i regretted most! After the second paper, i LOST hope! *jumping from the 1000000th floor*

True Story : I memorized the whole essay on Cardiac Output (because that was one of the main themes in cardiac biology). I was pretty confident i understood it well. And you know what happened in exam hall? ppooofff! I did not even see the question was asking about Cardiac Output until the last 10 mins!!!!!
Astaghfirullahaladzim....

I came back feeling so hopeless... Because, i stayed up all night before cardiac paper, and cardiac biology was the subject that i covered every physiology part of it a week before exam! I can feel my neck stiffen and i feel like vomitting when i ate my lunch and dinner. *STRESS LEVEL 1000000*

However, Thanks to Allah, my aunt came to Dublin for work. She invited me to spend a night with her at the hotel. I had the wonderful chat ever with her. Everything make sense to me.

I will talk about the conversation wit my aunt later. Because it is sooooo SPECIAL! ^^

The Secret

Salam n Hi! =)

Hurrmm, i'm supposed to be studying for anatomy.. (at least, that was da plan for tis morning) when i feel like writing a post. =P its raining outside, cant go to da library

I kinda into exams... hurrm "kinda" ?? =P well actually, i found it hard to keep my motivation sky high E-V-E-R-Y D-A-Y! To tell da truth, i admire my uncle! (yes! apparently, i have an uncle who is in 2nd year medicine. ngee* ) he scored 3.86 for his first semester! 0.O i know he worked really hard for it! i wanna be just like him! i want an excellent CGPA too! *too much of exclaimationary sentences?* huhu.

He is the happiest one!

Then i remember this video i used to watch in college... it is a..i could say a film, in addition to Rhonda Byrne's famous "The Secret". i tell ya, it helps a looot! it does, all the time! =D
Please, have a glimpse at it.

Well, I believe when we FOCUS on what we REALLY want, we'll attract it to us. Because, we'll find ways to achieve it! n as well, i would like to add.. PRAY. Its a powerful action, definitely! n its a key to every success. and, BE PATIENT. =)) Like Prof. Dr. Murhaya (owh, she's an Ophthalmologist, working at Prince Court Med Centre in Kuala Lumpur) said in her book,

learning about God's creation is never easy...

i have to agree, it is NOT easy! (i admire her too! very much..!)

Thus, I summarize,

FOCUS on what you REALLY want
(not what u DONT want!)

ACTIONs
(Plan for it, work on da plan, n PRAY)

Tawakkal (Trust)
(after all... what you give, u get back)

Now i'm sounding like a motivator or something (which i'm not even close to!)... Its just a sharing. Its good for me too. I would wanna do the same thing i said here.. Dun wanna be tin kosong!

p/s : pray for my success! I wanna be a good doctor!
p/s : i'm Thankful to be surrounded by lovely people. Alhamdulillah. =))

Alhamdulillah.. All praises to Allah.

Currently, I'm waiting for a notification from IUMC, announcing the university chosen for me ( as well for few other KYUEM MARA Medics). I'm hoping to get into Trinity.. *senyum lebar* But I leave this decision making to Allah, let Him decide which university is the best.

TRINITY, UCD, CORK or GALWAY ??
(p/s : Northern Ireland is a part of UK)

and a very BIG thanks to everyone for all the support, doa n prayers! =) pray for my success in Ireland.

MeDiCaL obSeRvaTioN.....

SaLaM n hyE....

I'm THANKFUL to be given the opportunity to do MEDICAL OBSERVATION ! =) I'll try my best to share most of it alrite??

WedNesDay, 23rd December 2009....

Time : 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Location : Autopsy ( Bedah Siasat ) , Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya

Frankly, i was nervous.... Takowt sgt t'passed out kat ctu... Cuz all da doctors were MR.. Apparently, no Ms Mrs during that session.... It was cold in that Dewan Bedah Siasat... n strong smell of Formalin ( used as tissue fixative & antiseptics )

Background Info regarding Autopsy :

1- Divided into two..... Forensic and Clinic

2- Forensic.... Also called Medicolegal... Arahan from the POLICE.... Divided lagi into two, jenayah n non-jenayah.....

3- Clinical post mortem... Due to death in the ward under doctor's supervision tapi xtahu sebab kematian... Example, that patient masuk ward cuz patah kaki, but then died in the ward.... Xthu exact punca kematian rite...?

......................................................................................................................

Scrubs Suit... =P
Cap, Face Mask, Plastic Apron n Phua Chu Kang Boots...
Do spray some perfume on da face mask, alrite?

Well, when i entered the Dewan Bedah Siasat, there were three deceased.... One was cancer patient... ( Liver cancer.... ) I've got to see the differences between cancerous organs with the normal organs....

Procedure :

1- Observe general description such as sex, weight, height, hair length, hair n eye colour, skin n other physical features (tattoo, birthmark, freckles) every single thing that u observed, kne catat n draw on the special form given.... Even, scar or wound scalp need to be drawn plus with length measured....

2- Y shaped incision (cut) from shoulder to upper chest and extend all da way down to the part where the pelvic girdle is....

3- Using scalpel, dissect the skin n muscle from the ribcage ...... Meaning separate kan flesh wit tulang rib cage.... =P

4- Make 2 cuts at both sides of the ribcage... Then keluar kan, so that the thorax organs exposed...

5- To make it easier, Dr Norizal said that, they'll tie the first part of small intestine n the end of large intestine.... Then, they'll cut out the bowel (other name for intestine)... Kiranya, keluarkan intestine dulu....

6- Next, from lidah sampai the first part of small intestine yg dah ikat tadi.... =) tongue, esophagus, larynx, bronchus, bronchiole, lungs, heart, liver.... Lets recall bio! ngee* everything need to be pulled out...

7- Using scalpel, cut across from one ear to another... Pulled away scalp (kulit kepala) from skull in two flaps... Meaning, front flap towards face n back flap towards back....

8- Cut skull wit electric saw..... Brain exposed... =)

9- Severed (cut) brain-spinal cord connection.... Nerve la rite... Lifted out the brain... Biarkan brain "harden" in the open air kejap....

10- Weight all the organs....

11- Now examine EVERY part of the ORGANS.....

12- Slice organs samples... To be observed under microscope....

13- Selesai sudah..... All organs need to be placed back into the body...

14- Chest flap n sewn..... Skull cap is put back in place.... Scalp closed n sewn.....

p/s : To me, watching autopsy on screen is scarier than watching it LIVE... Alhamdulillah, i was fine throughout the dissection... Btw, i had deja-vu (rasa mcm dah penah mimpi writing tis post... Hehe...)
